Prior to the effective date a remittance advice message will be issued to provide you with more details. Emergency Room Behavioral Health Hold Extended; Changes to Claim Submission Requirements Providers were previously notified that Alaska Medicaid’s temporary expanded coverage for behavioral health observation bed services would end effective 01/01/2020. Coverage has now been extended through the end of SFY2020, terminating effective 07/01/2020. Reimbursement is limited to 120 hours per hold. Effective for dates of service on and after 01/01/2020 – 06/30/2020, report the first 24 hours using revenue code 0762; all hours in excess of the initial 24 hours must be reported using revenue code 0900. For example, a claim for a 72-hour hold must be submitted as follows: revenue code 0762 – 24 hours; revenue code 0900 – 48 hours. Hours in excess of 24 reported for revenue code 0762 will be reduced to the 24 hour maximum. Hours in excess of 96 reported for revenue code 0900 will be reduced to the 96 hour maximum. Questions?
